Yes, tell me about it, when a company uses this system to ring me up then I make it a point never to use them. EVER.

Dialers dial numbers for someone automatically. The automated messages you get are something different.

Theres a few software dialers available now so the costs have come down dramatically.

Get an answer machine.

They'll drop the call if an answer machine picks up.

Some potential customers will drop the call too, if they encounter an answering machine. Serious issue to some businesses.

No they're not. They are dialers that are 'more efficient' because rather than employ a person to talk to you, at first they use the message and then only if you press the digit they say will you be connected to an agent.

Many calls are originated outside the UK these days and so TPS etc is of little use. Most of the messages have a 'press X to opt out' choice if you listen to the whole message.

Ah these ones. I press the number to get through to someone then waste a little of their time. If it suits them to waste my time, then its only fair.

Simon, Dave can sort that out for you, presume you still have his details, may be worth an ask?
