Most expensive BiB
Discussion
This is a recording from my on-board Roadhawk video, there is a technical problem with the audio, which is 15 seconds ahead of the visual. You will see a BMW330 travelling at speed on the on slip to the A3M at Bedhampton Havant, closely followed by a Black Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (you will hear a comment that it was a 599 which was incorrect) The 2 cars proceeded into the outside lane in excess of 120mph. Although not in camera shot, after about 500 yards, the BMW pulled over to let the Ferrari by, but as the Ferrari passed, it was seen to illuminate rear screen blues and hold the BMW behind it.
We didn't see the outcome of what happened next, as we took the Waterlooville exit.
Now, this is either the most expensive unmarked Police Car in the UK, or a very expensive toy who's owner thought would be fun to install blue lights!!!!

Having done a bit of research on this
i can confirm that in 2008 Scotland yard were given the keys to a 612 as a loan car. Drivers were volunteers, working in thier spare time (tough job eh!!). It was dark blue in colour and was specially prepared for police work. The car is no longer in service with the police but rumour has it that the next owner bought it with some of the equipment still fitted - ie. the blue lights in the grill. Maybe Ferrari missed those items when they took the car back. Anyway, it seems that the new owner is making use of them and is playing at cops and robbers to make the drive to / from work more enjoyable.
Brum police also had loan of an LP640 in 2006.

Wow, where did you glean this information from? Very well done, somebody else also suggested that it could have been snatched from a drugs baron, and used by the police, but I think your theory is more plausible, re the colour, it well could have been Dark Blue, it all happened so quick.

You really have to be carefull at the mo in our area as the police are using all sorts of sneaky tactics. There are traffic cops in supercars (as above), unmarked scooby's & evo's, some obvious stuff like Focus ST's and Omega / Vectra types, and some new ones working in regular unmarked cars such as 4/5 year old corsas and fiestas. So when you think its just another 's

The best traffic car i have seen has to be Essex plods old Lambo Gallardo (circa 2003). Bright yellow with plod stickers and lights on the roof. At least they made it obvious for us. Ive seen plod in a lotus Exige (more of a PR car than a functional purchase)down in Devon and on scramblers chasing the local moped gangs across the parks. Even seen them use all terrain tracked vehicles to chase down farm vehicle theives.

Now Eddie, your mission if you want to accept, is to post up pictures of the said car complete with cops. Lol

Hmm, despite Eddie's research, I'm still not convinced that the local 5-0 have a Scag. Maybe one of our residents 'in the know' could shed some light on this strange sighting?!
As i said in an earlier response, they 'HAD' a 612. Scotland Yard recieved it as a special build from Ferrari (inc GTS handling package) to mark Ferrari's 60th Anniversary Relay in April 2007. After 5 different forces got to use the vehicle it stayed with Scotland yard until 2009. Then, it retired and began to draw its police pension under the ownership of a mere civilian. How much more proof do you need?Well Eddie, I done some research my self on the Daimler Dart, check this link, The Dart is here, but also check out the local Volvo's from Havant & Southsea, have to admit, I remember them well;
