TVRs Back in Hollywood

Looney Tunes Tuscan takes to the air

They may not sell cars there but TVRs presence in the USA is growing thanks to another film appearance.

Interest in the marque swelled after a Tuscan Speed 6 appeared in Swordfish with John Travolta at the wheel.

Five Tuscans S's and a lucky technician were flown out to Hollywood recently to take part in the filming of the new Looney Tunes film.

TVR's Chairman Peter Wheeler commented "Like Swordfish, we leapt at the chance
as soon as were offered it. My children have a real soft spot for Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny so for TVR to be involved in their movie was an opportunity we weren’t about to pass up "

With interest in the cars set to rocket once again, there's still no word on when TVRs might be available in the USA.

I don't think you will see TVR's sold as type approved cars in the US. They would have to pass a 120,000 mile reliability trial on the engine without even changing a cambelt and I somewhat doubt they would!

I wouldnt say that, I hear only the early speed 6 engines had problems and they are all good since.

Plus I bet all the cars in the USA dont run 120,000 miles without the need for a cambelt change.

They only have to get one engine passed 120k miles.

Yes, also read that in the recent EVO with regards to Lotus and the USA.

It mentioned how it cost Lotus four times as much money to do the U.S. thing than it cost to develop the Elise S1 in the first place!!! "Tens of millions..."

Sorry. Saw this car at the factory last year after it got back from filming. looked really cool with all the stick on wings and wooden dash and brass dials that looked like it came out of a 50's motor cruiser.

Me too - how DO you get those smily faces into the text??? - never works for me when i try but then I'm at the limit at the moment typing this.

This movie was released months ago in the USA. I took my daughter to see it a couple of months back and it was harmless twaddle.

My only complaint was that they appeared to have jacked-up the suspension of at least one of the cars (presumably for some sort of stunt or effect) and it looked a bit poo! The first time you see it though is when it flips-up from a revolving compartment in the spy's garage. It's a lovely shot and there were plenty of admiring 'Ooooos' in the cinema.
