E36 Coupe – engine fubar
Discussion
A neighbour has a 318 E36 beemer coupe like mine (not sure if its also a 318iS) but after a month of ownership the engine died (major damage to the 4th cylinder). It has been sitting on her drive for ages and she asked me what she should do about it.
I suggested an engine from a scrapyard beemer and getting that fitted. No need for one of these refurbished, guaranteed units, unless they're cheap enough) as the entire car only cost £1200. Anyone any idea what the cost of an engine and fitting it would be?

Is it worth fixing? What did it cost her?I suggested an engine from a scrapyard beemer and getting that fitted. No need for one of these refurbished, guaranteed units, unless they're cheap enough) as the entire car only cost £1200. Anyone any idea what the cost of an engine and fitting it would be?
