I've got three pictures of shoes which are on a clear white background. I want to cut out the image of the shoe so there is no background there at all but frankly have idea how to even start. I want to stick them on top of another image without the square white background appearing as well, which it does just now unfortunately.

Anyone got any suggestions on a not too phenomenally complicated way to do this?

Which program(s) do you have available and which are you comfortable using ?

I've got access to CorelDraw and Paintshop Photo Pro. I haven't really used either of them but am happy to mess around until I make something work if someone gives me basic details.

A basic way is to select the white area with the tool called Magic wand then invert your selection. This will select just the shoe and then you can just copy and paste onto the other pic.
There will be loads of paintshop pro tutorials on the net, just search for selection tutorials. To be fair most photoshop tutorials will teach you the same basics that will apply to most graphics programs.

With PSP, the 3rd button down on the left hand side is the magic selection. Click on the shoe and most of it will be surrounded by marching ants. Then hold down shift and repeat adding to the selection until the shoe is all inside the marque.

Then copy the selection, and paste as a new layer.
You then have an image of the shoe smile

With Photoshop, you highlight the shoe in a similar manner, and then Ctrl-J to create it on a new layer smile

Well I'm getting there, but I'd be lying if I said I was finding it easy. Using Paint.NET because its free and it appears I don't have a copy of PaintShop Photo Pro anymore (or access to my sister's copy). I can use the magic wand to select the shoe but how do I get it into another package without the background? When I copy it into a new layer it appears to be just the outline of the shoe. When I try and copy it direct to Corel Draw then it still brings the white background for some reason.

I suspect this may end up being beyond me.

Nope, got it now. Select the white, delete the selection and then you have a picture of the boot you can use elsewhere. Sorted. Thanks for the assistance chaps
