Aix-en-Provence

Any tips on where to stay in Aix-en-Provence?
We're going there for a long weekend in the middle of March to check out places/property between Aix & Nice (normally go to Nice but fancy a change), never been to Aix before so don't have a clue where to stay or what the nightlife is like.
We prefer to stay right in the centre of town so that everything is in walking distance

Try this place not quite in the centre but you can walk to everything. I stayed here a couple of years ago quite quirky not disappointed,

Hi Leadfoot. If you go by the indirect route between Aix and Nice, then this area is lovely

If you don't mind a smallish town, then http://www.provenceweb.fr/e/alaupro/castelan/caste... is a great little place to stay and see here for reviews of hotels http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels-g677532-Castel...
Am very jealous that you are considering a place in that area - it is lovely. (some great roads up to the gorges, too).
HTH. Cheers, Jon

Quite familiar with the Castelane & Gorges du Verdon areas. Very nice but it's on the wrong side of the hills for us - the weather on the coastal side is noticeably different in the winter (Sunny +16 DegC one side vs +8 & snow on the high ground on the other back in Jan).
We've checked out most places between Nice & Draguignan before, this time we're going to look between Aix & Cotignac - probably at places within 30mins of the A8 as I'll be commuting if we move down there.

This is a nice little town only a couple of miles from Cotignac - went there last year - http://www.beyond.fr/villages/aups.html
