Lionel Jeffries died earlier today.

A much loved comedy genius from my youth, director of The Railway Children, South East Londoner and all round top bloke.

he was part of my childhood.
what was the film he was in when they went to the moon?
to my shame i did not ever know much about him. to me he summed up british comedy . probably watched more films with him in than i realise
