coolant?????

whilst working on the car the other day one of my fathers friends said when i refill my coolant system i should use a coolant agent only and not put any water in the system as this can damage the engine is this true. he is a very clever engineer by the way but really specializes in steam boats more than anything . What sort of coolant should i use and should i uses a mix of water and coolant. need to get it tomorro and engine can be fired back up tomorro. cheers again guys

Yes you do need water, you need a 1:1 mix of water to coolant. I think it comes in red or blue, dont mix. Ie if you have blue in your car stick with blue and vice versa.
