ok guys, well for those of you that know me and the RX, its time to part company with her. she has caused me a few problems over the last few months and a hole in my wallet. to mention a few things i managed to melt the inside of the cat(malton and the chipshop runs) i dont think helped! and then had problems with a miss fire as well which was a suspected coil pack.

anyway i need something to replace her with, its got to have 4 true seats and be able to play on the chip shop runs as well???????????

im stuck on what and keep on ending up look at things i shouldn't ie: s2000, sagaris etc

any ideas guys?

cheers for the help

I had a similar dilema last year - had an exige, then baby arrived so I needed extra seats (and 5 doors) whilst still remaining fun-ish. I went for a pimped out white 3.2 A3. It's not really a sports car, but its quick in a straight line, flappy padals are a nice change, and well, I've kept it for 9 months so far (more than the usual 6 months) with no real plans to change so it must be doing something right. It wallows a fair bit in corners, but I keep telling myself it was never going to be owt like the exige, but its right for me at the moment.

The only thing I sometimes think of is a Maserati 4200 or a Gransport. At the moment I need 5 doors, but might make the change when The Boy is a little older... or an Atom, or a Noble, or, or... no, must be sensible... ish

Get an Evora Mark.

Iain, I think budget is an important consideration. If you're thinking Sagaris but want 4 seats get a Cerbera thumbup

E46 M3, E39 M5, E60 M5 (bit biased towards BM's). Others - E55AMG, S type R or XKR? I have a friend selling an 3.2 A3 tip, which he tells me is fun (but I don't believe him).

Or an Evo Lancer or Scooby, if image isn't a problem.

thanks for the replys so far guys

had a look at the new scooby yesterday and wasnt really taken on it, love the evo's but the service intervals are a nightmare! every 4500 yikes

had a drive in a leon fr sport reference seemed to be ok.

always liked the m3 but would need to have a drive of one to see what i think anybody know what the merc equivalant is of this and what there like?

by the way my O/H has threatened to tie herself to the front of the RX unless i come up with something half decent to stop me selling her.... sorry i mean it

I have a mental image of your RX in my rear view mirror with the Mrs tied to the front of it!

No boot but I liked my 996 targa (light and airy without losing the rigidity or coupe shape IMHO) with a remap to 340bhp c £20k. But E46 hard to beat at sensible money and remaps to 360bhp. Four seats and a boot. I've had four M3's and most recent SMG was good. Best of luck and always interesting to hear different idea. £10k for an E39 M5??

I bought a Mk IV R32 as a runround and it's OK. 4wd in the snow is a plus and while I'm a big Scooby fan (had a Type RA) i chose the R32 over a P1 for understatement smile
