I bought a tv and surround sound system before xmas, very happy will it.Amazing picture and sound.I've a samsung 46 inch 8 series led tv,AE 5.1 surround sound and a Marantz 7.1 hdmi tuner. The problem is the centre speaker, its the same as the 4 others and doesn't look right. What speaker could i buy to replace the centre one i have now.

Which AE speakers have you got? The only packages I'm aware of come with a 'proper' centre speaker confused

The best centre speaker is one that matches your left and right speakers, so that when the sounds move across the front there isn't a change in timbre. If the one you have now is the same as the left and right, then unless you plan on changing those as well, then I wouldn't recommend replacing the centre just because it doesn't 'look very good'.

Just my 2p worth...

I was going to say the same thing. The centre is supposed to be matched to the fronts, so surely "identical" is as close to "matched" as you can get?

They are called the Aego-T system.

I've got the older 2.1 Aego-T system for my bedroom TV/PC and it's a great little setup, the 5.1 version will be properly matched as all the speakers are the same, so you'll get a consistant sound across them all. If it's used appropriately (ie you're not trying to fill the Albert Hall with it) then unless you don't like the tone it produces, then I really wouldn't worry about changing the centre as you'll do more harm than good and only then end up replacing the front left and right as well.

I've had various combinations of front speakers over the years, due to gradual upgrading and the best setups have been when I had the front three matching. Even when I bought a 'better' model of PMC centre it didn't sound right until I managed to find the matching left and rights to go with it. That was with DB1+ fronts and a TB2+ centre which both even use the same tweeter, but different woofers, so it shows how important proper matching is.

Just my 2p worth of course. smile
