Porsche PCM Usb Drive

Hi all,

having some issues with the pcm i think. I have a USB stick connected and am trying to get over an issue with certain songs being filed as "Unknown Ablum".

I am going through changing the ID3 tags but an struggling to get the car to realise the fact that certain tracks have changed/updated.

Do any of you know if the car stores a cache of data for faster lookups on the drive? As it doesnt seem to be updating?

Is there any way of indexing or cataloguing the contents? If so, that might help.

I guess the manual doesn't tell you what you need to know. I have a PCM 2.1 so can't be much use, but have you quizzed your dealer?

When I bought a PCM 2 car three years ago it could only read ID3 tags v2.3, so I changed the tags from 2.2 as they were at the time. You can do it as a global command in iTunes. That worked for me with PCM reading a CD rather than a USB (not an option in those days). You could give that a try. I have PCM 3 now so can't reproduce the error to help out any more.

Delete all the album art of the USB stick.

v3.4 at least does seem to cache info as if you remove and reinsert a USB drive it'll start playing from where it left off.

Have you tried inserting a different USB drive to clear any cache?
