After recently buying an E46 M3, a good all rounder, I was wondering whats out there that has the most horses for £20k, Last shape M5 springs to mind..400bhp, what else you seen up for grabs for the dosh.

Lets see who can find the most.

420 was the quoted figure for 4.5 Cerb and a lot of them are now doing that, they weren't out of the factory that's true but the indies have over time got the induction and mapping sorted. Don't just look at HP though, hp/ton is more important - Tvr's are all pretty light compared to a lot of german stuff, so don't need as much hp to give the same (or more wink) performance. Ran my 4.2 Cerb against and M5 (e39/400) at the first Fighting Torque and pleased to report he was nowhere to be seen biggrin

Oh just looked in your profile, you've been there and done that... ignore most of that ramble then as will be old news hehe - but to answer the question, yes "some" 4.5 will be 420+ - look for ones with short induction fitted (not the long purple hoses) and mention of it being remapped and it should be strong.

You can get a really nice P1 for under £10K, SC450 conversion for £9K = 450bhp and about 1.2 tonnes, admittedly the cerb will have a slightly higher power to weight but at least you'd stay on the road in the P1 smile

Cloth..we have met I just change my name to suit the car, my cerb was bloody fast, 4.2 fibre glass, massive rev limit, didnt need it faster, its was 375hp, a bit tweeked. I saw a corvette engined one recently with a blower...wots the score on that? I do still like them!!!

For those that know me...no Im not running out to buy one!

Or if you could just stretch it to £40K you could have 612bhp and 737 lb/ft.

SL55 AMG DMS conversion (inc purchase of 2003 car), it was in a recent'ish Performance Car magazine.

600 BHP for £15,000 okay so technically it's not stock that wasn't in the rules.
