I have just had the cambelt and alternator replaced on my 2003 1.6 focus and now it seems to be playing up.
The car will not idle steady, seems to be almost staling and saving itself. The car is a bit harder to drive smoothly, coming on and of the gas makes it very jerky where as before it was smooth but apart from that it seems to drive like normal?? The garage that did the work have looked at it and they seem stumped so it is going to a ford dealership next week to see if they can solve the problem.
Any ideas what could be causing the this? i know it seems obvious but would problems like this be linked to changing the cambelt/alternator?

Cheers.

Most obvious thing is that they've disturbed a hose and created a vacuum leak or disturbed an electrical connection to something like the idle control valve.
