Just noticed the brake lights are not working. Reverse, indicators and normal rear lights are ok. I see in the bible that there is a fuse for speedo/brakes/reverse; would that mean that if the fuse went the reverse light would also not work? Which would tell me that the fuse is still ok.

The switch on the brake pedal: As I'm not the most versatile when it comes to mechanics, how do I remove the white plastic cover? Just force it off?
Thanks!
Andy

Andy,

Try the connectors in the near side velcro access panel just behind the door. This happened to me. Tested the switch under the brake pedal. Then found the problem lay in the connectors mentioned above. Give them a good clean with something abrasive.

Probably the switch. Happened on my Chim. Local motor factors supplied one (Rover i think) for a couple of quid.

Take the 2 connectors off the switch and short them together (ignition on) and the lights should work. If so it's the switch. Undo biggish nut on pedal side of the switch(upside down in footwell for this) and it's a simple replacement. Just note how far the switch protrudes before you undo it, so you can refit to the same position - the switch is activated on pressing the pedal, so you want it to come on as you rest your foot on the pedal rather than when you do the oh shit emergency braking!

Thanks for the help!
Turned out to be the connectors behind the door. I don't really know what I did though, just moved the wiring loom back and forth a little, said a few nice words to the car and bingo... the brake lights are now functioning again...
Problem solving the TVR way...
Cheers Andy

Do you think will have time to do that in an emergency stop?
