Thermostat change for a 1993 1.4 (8v) Astra

Looks like i will be changing my parents thermostat on their little astra shortly (suddenly running very cool so i suspect the stat is stuck open) but just a reminder could somebody please advise if the cambelt actually has to come off to change it? I seem to remember that the stat is behind the cam-belt cover on these J-Series vauxhalls but without a manual to hand I cannot remember if you can just change it without disturbing the cambelt. If somebody could advise it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

What year and engine?

D'oh, I'm guessing a 93 1.4! Memory is a bit hazy now, but I don't think it's a belt off job.

Let me go and have a little 'remember'!

Yes take the cambelt off its behind it, might as well replace the belt while its off to.
