Chaps,
With my TVR about to be reduced to a small pile of bits for a few months, I find myself in need of a runaround. I've been thinking in terms of a max of 800quid and want something that's going to be cheap to insure and cost me peanuts to run....so I've been looking at Escorts, astras and Mondeos. However, an '89 Alfa 75 2.0 TS has come across my path with 90k on the clock and FSH......... and I am sorely tempted. What are they like, cheap/expensive reliable/nightmare? What pitfalls are there with these beasts?
Any advice/thoughts gratefully received,
Kris..

Lovely cars that have their fans (me included) and many not so won over...
You get a pretty good suspension setup and LSD as standard, however condition can make both pretty poor, gearshift is almost certain to be terrible, engine will sound great, and those old twin cams are reasonably robust, from memory they do have variable valve timing, just phasers, not sure how long they last... they are pretty well rust protected for an Alfa, but still go eventually, electrics, well its Italian, check them all, decide what you need
.
There are some webistes out there, and there is a Yahoo group, try looking for Milano as well as 75, as thats what they were called in the USA.
