Quick question - I'm currently in the process of having one of the calipers replaced on my E46 M3 and I've been told they're on back order.

I was told this in early Feb and am still waiting for the caliper to turn up, which, for BMW being the efficient company they are, I find a little strange.

Anyone else heard this or had trouble getting hold of calipers?

I've got two M3 calipers with pads that are off mt M3. 18,000 miles approx.

They need a refurb but if you want to make me an offer drop me a PM and I'll dig them out the cupboard!

I put APs on my car yesterday to replace all four standard calipers. All the standard calipers are in perfect working order. PM me if you are interested

Out of interest, how much are OEM brakes compared to the aftermarket alternatives like Brembo etc which sound like they are significantly better?

More importantly, how much am I likely to get for my used calipers that I have taken off of my car over the weekend, when they go onto eBay at the weekend? wink

what about looking at reconditioned callipers,

There can't be a lot which wears on a calliper, seams still to throw the whole thing away and buy a new one it it just needs new seals or pistons.

could try here for a new one http://c3bmw.co.uk/StockItem.asp?categoryID=95&amp...

Thanks for the advice fellas.

New caliper turned up this morning - fitted and car raring to go!

I've actually had the front disks/pads/fluids replaced too - cant wait to get it back! They've had my car nearly 4 weeks yikes and had given me a 320d as a loaner. Lovely car, but not an M....and my missus complained that she couldnt spot it whenvever I pick her up! (my M is Imola red)

Could do with some sun tomorrow then...get the roof down! driving
