turbo hoses

right put new turbo hoses on today refitted turbo manifolds and exhuast intercooler etc. i have just realised that i have put the turbo hoses the wrong way round, i think anyway. can anyone let me know which way they go and does it matter. im meaning the 2 on the turbo to the 2 connector by the engine. cheers

ive not got one and car is at my mums place. the rear turbo has 2 coolant hoses which both go from the turbo to 2 different connectors up near the top of the engine. does it matter which way they go to the connectors from the turbo. hope this makes a bit more sense

Ok now I understand , yep I think it in important as the turbos have different sized inlets , pretty sure one has got to go to the cool side of thecooling and one to the hot ..... Don't know which as mine are in bits too !!! Will. Need someone to help !!!

I don't think it matters which way the water flows through. I might be wrong though.

tuxman not the hoses that go to the intercooler, the pipes that have the water in them. cheers mate

Y H M, dont know if it will help but there is no mention in the build manual as to which way they go round

I have just looked at the water manifold picture in the build manual (I was reading it at the time ). Looking at the manifold I don't think it should make any difference on the basis that you are just meaning either of the matched pair of outlets on either side of the manifold .

If you have the side wrong then there is a problem as there is a hot side and a cold side. The lower side is the hot side from the manual.

Evidently water cooling is just an option extra and not required.

it is just the water hoses i thought i had wrong. the air pipe from the filters and big hose to the intercooler are the right way round. so what your saying is the water cooling pipes dont matter which way round they go

The manual suggests they are matched pairs - 2 cold feed to front and rear and 2 hot return from front and rear. Doesn't matter if you have either of the pairs of feeds or returns swapped over but I wouldn't want to swap over the feed and returns.

these 2 hoses. then go to 2 different feeds. the 2 water blocks under the water tank. does this make sense

The pipes are the same sizes but the inlets on the turbo's are different !!! Don't know if it makes a difference but I'm going to check with graham at universal turbo,s tomorow !!!

Had replaced my water hoses only last week,found them to be in realy bad nick and was loosing water when car was under presure,now no hot steem and a full tank of water.....took about 4m's of hose to do job and was quite easy,just do it when water is cold cause you will loose some......

there is 2 water manifold blocks on my 2.5 and dont know which goes where.

water inlets measure 14mm and 16mm .........guess they are sized for a reason will check tomorow .

mine does not have the black pipes in the picture the new hoses go straight to the connectors on the turbos. and they are 9.5mm and fit perfect. and on the 2.5 there is 2 water manifolds it seems. i have found a diabgram in the manual which os for the 3 litre engine but im pretty sure i have them the wrong way round. i will check next weekend. but if anyone knows anymore it would be great.

IIRC, looking at the rear turbo in situ, the upper coolant pipe runs to the block nearest the engine (the block with the 40 deg elbow).

The lower runs to the block attached to the fuel tank under the expansion tank.

the one that is the higher one is under the exspansion tank right. and the the one below is the the one closer to the enigne. if this is the case i may have done it right.

Nope other way round, lower to the one under the expansion tank. Upper to the one closer to the engine. Will double check for you tommorrow.
