Good evening.

I have a partially full 20 Gb HD, and bought a 120 Gb to use as the main one. I have already started to use the 120, and have many saves on there.
I am waiting to receive a transfer cable, but I have just had a thought. Can I copy the content from my 60 onto my 220 without losing the data already on the 120? If so, I will have to swap and change between drives depending on what game I am playing, as I dont wish to lose the data on the 120.

Many thanks in advance for your time.

You can only MOVE the data onto a larger drive not copy.
So once you have transferred to your new one (as said above) the content will not be on your old one any more. Also your 120Gb drive will be wiped clean before the stuff is copied from the small one too so you will loose everything on the big one.

You cant select certain things to be transferred either, its everything or nothing and only onto a larger drive each time

20 > 60
60 > 120
120 > 250

Will not work if its 120 >60 or 60 > 20 etc

Thank you for the replies. Its appreciated.

I was afraid that would be the case, Looks like I will have to keep swapping and changing the drives then, depending on what game I am playing.

Thanks again.

Just wondering if an Xbox memory card would work, so move the saves over on that. I think its possible

Yeah, get hold of a memory unit and copy your save games over BEFORE you do the data transfer. Forget about the DLC, you can re-download that free onto the new HDD.

So, copy your save games over from the 120GB drive onto the 20Gb, then check that they all work. Delete Downloaded content on the 20Gb if you need to make space. Then use the transfer kit to transfer the 20Gb drive back onto the 120Gb drive. Bobs your uncle.

Thats a good idea! I assume I will be able to copy to the memory card in blocks up to 256k (or whatever the size of memory cards are). My Xbox has built in memory, I wonder if I can utilize that instead of a card.
Thanks for the idea, I appreciate it.

I used this methofd, but got myself a 512MB card, still not big enough for DLC, but it is possible to transfer everything that way.

Here's a tip, move your profiel to the MC and keep it there as it saves hassle throughout the transfer.
