I'm running a 53 plate 3.0l sport and have a fault with the parking sensors. They've been fine for the 4 months i've had the car but have now started to fail intermitently. When they fire up the button flashes and a continuous tone is emiited (as the book says it will when they malfunction).

Is there any way to reset them or find what the fault is without a trip to the stealers.

Cheers

If you listen to the sensors when they're on you can hear them clicking. If one is quiet it'll need replaced (this happened on my X5 last year).
I think it was around £90 for a sensor from BMW and I fitted it myself. Fitting is pretty simple but a litle fiddly.

Mine also does this if the sensors are paticularly dirty or covered with snow, so a good clean first might help.

Im told powerwashing too close to the sensors can destroy them

Cheers for the replies,

Had a quick listen to the sensors and heard no clicking from any of them! hope that doesn't spell too much of a disaster!

I'll have a proper look / listen at them again in daylight tomorrow.

Would a diagnostic scan pick up thuis type of fault??

If you can get one out easily, leave it in the aring cupboard overnight, that might help, if it's water ingestion.

Cheers for the replies.

FYI, diagnostic scan doesn't note this as a fault.

Had a proper listen to them all (have to get your ear right on the sensor, it's like you can feel the clicking rather than hear it if you know what i mean!!)

Anyway, one wasn't, took it out, dried it, refitted and nothing.

New one from ebay to be fitted tommorrow should hopefully sought it, only £35 too.
