Sadly, after "treating" the wife to a JCW she has never really taken to it, and finds the ride a bit unbearable, I was going to change tyres etc, but have driven a few others and to be honest they are pretty much the same - so its back up for sale, and will look for something else, I love driving it and find it a real good fun car, it looks fantastic, sounds great and is surpringly quick and economical.

That's a shame, but as I said in your other thread, a MINI will always ride like a MINI. They're not for everyone...

Err, that car looks to have been lowered? Might have something to do with the ride?

For comparison, my car, which has been lowered about 55mm on coilovers looks to have the same ride height!

My guess is that your car is on springs which are making the ride harsh.

Yeah it does look like it's been given a hefty drop, it would be worth investigating what's been to your suspension if you want to keep the car.

Hah, knew it! tongue out There's usually a few sets of springs on eBay, you'll probably be quids in if you sell the eibach's!

just been looking on ebay - seems these eibach ones are about £150 new, havent found any std ones yet it should raise the car by 30mm which may be enough for it not to catch on these speed humps - also noticed excessive tyre wear to inside of tyre so prob change them as well as originally planned

I can just about put up with a Cooper on 15" wheels on a daily basis. A Cooper S on 17" wheels and RFTs must grind you down given the state of our roads.

Weren't Cooper S springs specific to the options fitted to the car? I seem to remember reading that there are 3 or 4 diffent spring rates available??

This may be just the JCW upgrade kit though... cant remember for defo.

If you want to improve the ride, it may be worth putting some KONI FSD shocks on. They're supposed to transform the ride! They work best with standard springs rather than shortened/lowering ones.

Now this is going back a while, but from memory, you could have had either 'Standard', 'Sports' or 'Sports Plus'. Having dug out the form from when I ordered mine in December 2003, I can see that I had Sports Plus for no extra charge, which suggests it may have been part of the Chilli Pack. I'm sure somebody on here with a better memory or level of knowledge can clarify...

'Sports Suspension plus' was included with the chilli pack but could be deleted and 'Sports Suspension' fitted as a no cost option. I don't think the MINI Cooper S was available with 'Standard suspension'.

If you go here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=RE32&a... and click on the suspension spring, it says this: "The choice of proper coil springs depends on the options installed on your vehicle. Refer to your local BMW dealer for details"

Well its defo going after a frank discussion with the wife - its currently in the mini dealer having a new belt tensioner and chain fitted after I noticed a rattle on tickover las time I cleaned it apparently its quite common, they are doing it under warranty as a goodwill gesture - you cant fault the service of them thats for sure.

I will miss it, Its great to drive super precise and looks great .. shame the wife wears the trousers in our house !

its advertised at £11750, which seems about right looking at others so we will see what happens

We are looking at focus ST and and alfa brera - I prefer the focus, more fun to drive.

Just need to sell the mini now, if not will just trade it in,

I wouldn't bother with trade in, we have an r56 cooper s and the values on trade have been hillarious.

Private sale is much more sensible
