Hi Folks,
This one is for my dad not me! bless him, 66 and starting to turn a bit
rotund !

The question is, before I get him out walking / running ETC
is there anything I should get him to do? IE medical ETC....

Any advice on OAP fitness ?

Probably worth a check up at his GP before starting just in case there's a problem hidden away somewhere that he's not aware of. It's definitely worthwhile, my Mums GP got her to start walking a few years back and she's better for it.

Still possible to stay fairly active, Mum manages to walk a mile most days of the week and she's 77, Dad cycles about two miles each way most days to work as a lifeguard and he's 73, when he's not abroad working on a building site somewhere.

Yes, defo worth getting him to speak to his GP to assess what degree of activity is suitable. Usual suspects are walking and tai chi. I should imagine gardening is a good one - repetitively moving (that mower about), bending (to tend to flower beds), stretching (to trim rose bushes)... it's like a keep fit class. silly
