My main job (senior electro-mechanical design engineer) involves sitting in front of a bank of PC screens all day designing parts/assemblies & carrying out CFD & stress/strain/fatigue studies.

However, since the incident in May last year I have had a real struggle with the work on the PC's, the distance from the screen is the exact distance that brings on terrible eye strain, after an hour I'm screwed.

I've tried all sorts to ease the problem but nothing works and both myself & SWMBO agree I need to consider the options about the direction I go with employment in the future.

I'm experiance in design & hands on in aerospace & F1 motorsport environments & I am a bloody hard worker.

So ideally I need to find a job with minimal "staring at screen" time, so a pratical "hands on" job would be great, but must be interesting and needs to pay £35k min. Any suggestions?

You will, of course, have consulted an optician about this, what did he/she say? Is it just an optical problem?

It's all to do with the slight misalignment of the eye that I now have, apparently working on the screens is one of the worst things for it, the actuall eye sight is absolutely perfect.

Do not fear however, nearly finished the bodywork of the car looking nice too.
