Try www.Novatech.co.uk they seem to have some good stuff and you can even spec your own.

Any price range?
What do you use it for?
Not sure on a price range yet. What do you use it for?
I use it for photo and video editing and storage mostly, so I need quite a hefty processor and about 1Tb. I don't play games because I spend too much time on here

Could I use my old printer / scanner and whot-nots with an apple or would I need apple stuff?

Almost certainly, as long as they're not more than say 5 years old or from some obscure manufacturer.Could I use my old printer / scanner and whot-nots with an apple or would I need apple stuff?
You might want to check that your scanner manufacturer provides Mac software but most do so if it's Canon or HP etc it should be fine.
This link may help you to be sure

No pictures yet sorry, it is not that impresive to look at. At the moment
Ok this apple lark.
When it says it has say 500gb harddrive how much ofthat can i use? Is it like windows that decides it likes the look of all that space and try its best to fill up 400gig leaving you with nothing to work with?
Also the specifications are not that impressive to look at compared to a normal pc of the same price?

Is it really worth learning about a whole different world of computing to change to a Mac, and does a Mac actually have any advantages over a PC with Win7 at the same price?
I always maintain that the 'best' software to any job, is probably the software you use now, since usually the features are all there and leaning new stuff on a package you already use is soooo much quicker than trying to learn a new package from scratch.
Using a Mac is bit like driving a Saab; quirky, competent, but not actually better.
I am now going into an underground bunker to hide from the Mac fans!

I think Snow Leopard requires something like 5GB of space. The other advantage of OS X is that when you delete an application you actually delete all of it, no random files all over the place so it's much easier to keep on top of your disk space.

As for the spec, £969 gets you a 21" screen, 3GHz dual core CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB disk. I just priced up an equivilant Dell for about £700. However you have to add privacy & anti-virus subscriptions to the cost of the Dell. Also, if you know someone who attends or works at a school you can get a good educational discount on the Mac.
For me the difference in cost is more than justified by the quality of the hardware, the stability of the software and far less depreciation. I paid £1200 for my iMac about 3 years ago and it's still worth £500 on eBay today.
