I know the maximum normally paid to employees for mileage is 40p, but is there a statutory minimum?

If not what is a fair minimum? 25p a mile?

you can pay them whatever you like ...and they can claim the difference back from the tax man at the end of the year ..who says you can have .40p for 10K miles and .25p thereafter, without paying tax on it
