depends what you want to do with the car. dot 4 is fine for normal day to day driving. if you are going to hammer the bo****ks off it put in castrol SRF600 - it is stupidly expensive but it never boils

Personally I wouldn't put anything less than DOT5.1 (any make will do) in for general hooligan'ing about. but if you're a track day wanna be, then I totally agree Castrol SRF is the dogs thumbup

This is where the specification system falls down, cos DOt5.1 is supposed to be the best, yet most race brakes fluids a classed as DOT4 and they are far superior...go figure?

It's what the manufacturers of my calipers advised me to use, who am I to argue. Seems to stop me well enough and the pedal is like standing on a brick biggrin

Just dont use the silicone stuff. Its not good for the rubber seals. I had it in my Cobra Kit car when I got it and within a year I had to renew the master cylinder seals (just got a new one) and rear brake drum seals. The brakes on the Cobra were Sierra as well. I would have had to do the same with the fronts as well, but uprated the calipers when I got rid of the silicone fluid.

Bloody stuff floats on top of normal brake fluid as well, so its a bh to pump out of an existing brake system. I ended up pressure bleeding it as quick as I could to stop it floating back up the piping.

I would use normal Dot 4. The car shouldnt need any more than that unless it gets track day action. I would be temped to bleed the brakes through after a good session on the track in any case.

Hope this helps

Cheers
