Family owns circuit.

Family signs contract with a bloke that everyone knows is dodgy and has a public track record of being so, but does so anyway as they are dangled £££ in their faces.

Dodgy bloke makes a mess and walks away.

Family is sad and values support of everyone (I.E. please help us it's not our fault honest).

Loads of people shrug shoulders and think shame, as it was a good circuit, but don't want to bail the greedy idiots Family out.

I will probably being popping up at some point during the day, its only 5 minutes up the road from me.
It will be interseting to see what a mess they have made of the circuit. I agree it was all done for money and was probably never going to happen but still a shame if we lose a decent drivers circuitfrown

Bit harsh Phil, but not that far wrong.
I think it was obvious to anyone who has been within 30 miles of Donington that it could never, ever provide the infrastructure (track/hospitality/roads) necessary to host F1, let alone do it by 2010. I blame the nasty little git who dangled the gazillions in front of the Family - they were blinded by the £££ (and who wouldn't be?) but he was fully sighted and knew what he was doing, and it wasn't about having F1 at Donington! I would be gutted if we permanently lost the best drivers circuit in the UK because of some shoddy little political chess game. Nothing like a good conspiracy theory!

Not really. The obvious thing to do was take a deposit equal to the amount needed to get the place operational again. They'd know roughly what that was at the start.

Sadly I wonder whether the illness and untimely death of the main man played a part.
