hi there i have an st220 and my oil pump has packed in on me.... i can get the parts, but the garage is reluctant as it has blown the big end so my engine needs stripping. Does anybody know a good machanic that can do this??

Can do what ? fit the oil pump ? or do teh job properly and rebuild the engine ?


it could be cheaper to replace the engine.

About 10 years ago, I knew someone who had an ST200 and exactly the same problem as you - the oil pump went kaput and lunched the engine.

I don't remember the exact detail, but I think he said that the cost was about £4k something to have the engine rebuilt. It was under warranty at the time and so I guess this is a main dealer price.

Best of luck and as StevieTurbo has mentioned, it might be an idea to consider other options such as looking at another engine rather than a rebuild to keep the cost down.

It will almost definitely be cheaper to put another engine in. Especially if your paying for someone else to do the work.
