F355 Exhaust Volume
Discussion
Does anyone have any info on how loud their F355 exhaust is in dB for pre-track day noise testing? i.e. 0.5m @ 45 degs @ 3/4 max rpm. Or indeed simply whether it passed at a particular track?
I'm particularly interested in info on the standard fitment exhaust and aftermarket ones from Larini, Capristo and Tubistyle.
TIA for any info

Level 2. Bear in mind the volume with the butterfly open and shut is Vastly different.
If you could keep it shut for the 3/4 rev test, it may pass, although if they start to ping you on drive bys, you may again be screwed.
hmmm.....could you potentially disconnect something to keep it closed during the static test? If memory serves, the only track track I've come across in england that has drive by limits is bedfordIf you could keep it shut for the 3/4 rev test, it may pass, although if they start to ping you on drive bys, you may again be screwed.

I think mine was about 100db when it was just a standard exhuast.
Now its more like 126db with a Tubi and decats.
Looks like if I get a 355 with a sports exhaust I won't be able to do any track days Now its more like 126db with a Tubi and decats.
not good
I think they are things you can buy, but having 4 exhausts it may be worth looking into making some yourself. They're fairly simply. Just some baffles to shove in the pipes. Though not sure if this will lose you some power.
Was at Brands Hatch in 2008 with a few of me 187 comrads. My car (355 with decated-Capristo level 1) did not pass the bloody noise meter, and yet both the F360 CSs did
really pissed. Then while i was thumping chunks out of the wall because i was on the verge of loosing my £300. Hazy took my car through and reved it a little less than the required RPM and he got it through to get the green window sticker
Then i felt better and all was well again, with thoughts of peace and tranquility towards my fellow man
These days i dont bother doing trackdays, not worth the b
kss IMO.

so you have someone to get you through MoTs AND track day noise tests...you have good friends

Ref track days, it's not like I would be spanking the car round a track 18 days every year, but given how much I learnt about the handling of my C4S from the track, taking the F355 there to see what its limits would be and how it behaved as i approached/went past them seems like a good thing to do. By all accounts, F355s are v benign, but I'd rather find out first hand on a track deliberately rather than accidentally on a public road!
easy way to get past DB limits at the track is to fit a set of supertraps to your tail pipes, add or remove discs until you just scrape through

I have seen them kind of things at track days. They dont fit the 355s exhausts, i borrowed someones to try. Even then one would need 4 of them.
I know there are a few types out there, does anyone know which will fit the 355?
DT's stock several different sizes, shapes and types, if your ever near Wrexham it may be worth giving them a call and trying them all out I know there are a few types out there, does anyone know which will fit the 355?
or have one of the exhaust manufacturers make up custom bolt on brackets to house themI'm trying to find an answer to this problem too without resorting to putting a standard exhaust back on.
I'm currently running with decats and a Quicksilver back box, it's about 108dBA but that was measured at 1 metre and only about 4500rpm (I couldn't remember the test criteria) so no doubt it will be up on that by a few dB.
I have some new cats to go back on but I guess that will only really quieten down the lower rpm range.
I guess I may have to resort to the classic wire wool stuffed up the pipe!
