Eeup all.

I'm musing over a fairly big point in my life where I'm getting married this year, and I'm bored in my job, and I've lost sight of the things in my life that drive me.

I am Canadian by birth, and have a Canadian passport, but have lived in the UK all my life by way of a certificate of patriality through my mother who brought me over when I was a baby when she divorced my father. I've been back once, for a holiday, visting friends in Squamish in BC, which is an hour down the road from Whistler, and an hour up the road from Vancouver.

I'm a keen mountain biker, but with life as it is in this country I've not been able to enjoy it so much, and addition I like to climb and snowboard, and would like to learn to ski also. I'm a lover of the outdoors, and BC certainly fitted my way of life.

Additionally my gorgeous wife to be is of a similar outlook, and loves all the same things as me. Once we're married, my wife will be able to come with me and settle with the hassles that most people have with visas, and in theory we could just go whenever we like without delay. She wants me to be happy, and for that I'm the luckiest man alive.

Everything I've heard of Vancouver is amazing, and the size of the city offers potentially lucrative employment.

What does everyone think - should I clear down all my debts, sell everything up, and start again in Vancouver with my wife, my bike, and not a lot else?

I'd be grateful for your opinions smile

ps she (the future wife) is very excited about the prospect, and says that as long as one of us has employment before we go, we can go. We'd also have friends when we arrive as I have a lot of friends over there from my holiday, and my best friend lives out there.

I was there for a month three years ago and loved it. From my office window I could see the harbour and Grouse Mountain. What a view. The city is as vibrant as Sydney- not a bad comparator in my view. The outdoors life is in your doorstep, and bar the bears and other nasties, the place is safe. Oh and Stanley Park ! I say go.

If I was going to emigrate, Canada would be my number one choice, not sure why but I've always liked the thought of living there.

Only criticism I've heard of the place is that, yes, it's not on a par with UK cities for nightlife etc...

As my wife to be and I move into our mid 30's, we're not so driven by that.

Providing we can get a good red and good company, we're happy smile

Take a sabbatical and a month off work, go out there with the intention of finding work and attending interviews.

Don't ever think in 20 years time "IF ONLY" smile

Spent 6 months there in my 20s.

Only thing I disliked was limited nightlife. But, frankly, that is massively outweighed by virtually everything else.

The one city in the world I would leave London, my friends and my family for. Outstanding.

'kin hell, rocking up at job interviews with a massive kitchen knife might be the way you do things Big Al but I'm not so sure it'll go down well in sleepy Vancouver. It's a bit...threatening...
