The broadcaster read a direct quote from Andrew Rawnsley's book on the inner workings of New Labour which said: "(Gordon) Brown went berserk with Bob Shrum.

"'How could you do this to me, Bob?' Brown screamed at a shaking Shrum. 'How could you f****** do this to me?'"

"The Prime Minister is "very upset" by the allegations, according to Schools Secretary Ed Balls."

Oh dear, Ed better go and hide in the toilet because we know what happens when Winky gets upset, don't we? punch

When Gordon gets angry, Mr. Bigglesworth gets upset. And when Mr. Bigglesworth gets upset...

The article says he appologised for using the F word in case it offended viewers...not Brown (unless he was offended by it)

Shame Brown didn't get a bit angry in public. Might have done him some good.

Watching it as it it happened it did startle me that Paxman would say it, even if as a direct quote. I love the way when apologising he made sure everyone knew it was at the behest of his editor. It's just tragic that the BBC bods felt the need to wring their hands from fear of the inevitable complaints that would come pouring in.
