Started building again and had a go at one of Aoshimas many RX7 kits. Very similar to Tamiya to be honest but perhaps a wee bit less refined. Thers still a lot to do to the car but thought I'd post the progress so far :0) Hope you enjoy them. More to come.

Excellent little kit so far!

Yep, I agree, a lovely kit - I`m 3 down and still one unbuilt on the shelf to go. Haven`t had the pleasure of the Tamyia FD, but when the Aoshima one pops together so well, looks so good and, as you say konamonkey, comes in so many varieties, I`m not sure I`m missing anything! Fave is the black and white Japanese Police version. Pics of my other two below; stock in silver and random aftermarket decalled New Zealand racer. Late model with correct nose and track, rather than drift, additions still to do.

The only issue I had concerns the steering assembly: did you find the track rod location pegs were on the wrong side of the front upright arms? I think I had to modify my build ups...but my memory isn`t great and it has been a while since mine were done!

Anyway, enjoy, and please show some pics when finished!

I find the Slick 50 advert on a Rotary engined car quite amusing laugh

Cheers, I was chuffed how they came out - I`m a bit hit-and-miss with top-coat these days! In time honoured PH fashion "a bit of T-Cut" did indeed polish that out, i.e. I`m using Halfords rattle cans, sealing with clear coats and polishing out with wet`n`dry and the afore mentioned T-Cut, then finishing with Meguiars plast-rx super-fine plastic polishing compound (ideal for the window moulding too) and then car wax.
Honoured to "inspire" and looking forward to seeing yours....hang on, that doesn`t sound right....anyway, hopefully you know what I mean!

Its not quite there but I really enjoyed building it. The RX7 really is better looking than my RX8 smile What to build next though...... Got a nice Tamiya 370z!

Nice, nice, nice! If I didn`t have a couple of year`s worth of unfinished projects scattered around I`d be inspired to dig out my remaining version and get cracking! Nice job, glad to read you`re inspired to get going on the 370Z (didn`t know Tamiya had already got a 370 out!)

I too now wonder just how many versions Aoshima got out the basic tooling of this kit.........?

Cheers mate. Yes, Tamiya released the 370z just before christmas. Very nice kit as you would expect. Models for sale dot com look like they can supply just about any RX7 you fancy smile Looks like Aoshima did quite a few. Girlfriend has choosen my Hasegawa Subaru Impretza as my next challenge. Would have prefered the Nissan.
