Thinking about buying another wheel as my madcatz one is a bit useless for anything competitive!

So do you need a surface to clamp it on to, or can it be used on your knees?

Also, Anyone know where the cheapest ones are sold? biggrin

Thanks, Rod

Can you not get like a strap to go around your legs or something? Problem I would see with using it on your knees is that when you turn the wheel, the base goes with it, a problem I found with my old Jaguar steering wheel. I remember seeing a foldaway table specifically designed for a steering wheel but IIRC it was rather expensive for what it was. I think a few members have it though.

pretty sure the xbox wheel has a moulded base so it can sit on your lap. the game website shows a picture of it, the bottom is curved so it should sit on your lap comfortably.

Well, that is an idea, but i'd rather not strap my legs up just to play a game!

My madcatz one has grooves for the legs and 'slots' that come out and wrap around your thighs (Ooer)

I do remember folk mentioning the foldaway table thing, but folk saying its expencive.

Plus, the wheel is expencive enough without having to buy other expencive add ons to use it.

Anyone use it on their knees? How do ya get on if so?

You may laugh but I strap mine on an ironing board.

Height and reach adjustment FTW! smile

You really need to clamp it down very firmly. You get horrible positive feedback if the base can move at all, so you end up in tank slappers as you fight the feedback and the base slides/moves about.
Unless you can clamp the wheel down very firmly you're better off with a joypad IMO.

I use a conveniently sized table from a 'nest'of tables, good height when combined with the 'gaming futon'

Ironing board - brilliant! Do you ever knock the iron off though in hard cornering?

Definately need a table, or stand of some sort, I tried it on my lap, but found the wheel was too close, and would slide off my lap too easily.

I am using an old computer desk/side table which I have it tied down to at the moment, but still not ideal, seems too upright in the seating position.

I bought a special stand for it and it folds away when not in use. That said I've probably used it a handful of times.
