Just had a couple of awesome days on the hills in Scotland, Sunday at Glenshee and then an afternoon at the Lecht on Tuesday (going back tomorrow for more).
Both days bluebird days, no wind, great snow although icy in a few places. But my god are we lucky to have this on our doorstep! Half of the snow fences are totally covered up at both Glenshee and the Lecht. Just fab. Loads of fresh powder at Glenshee on the Glas Maoul wall. Just brilliant. Who needs the Alps!?

Thought I would start this thread so that others could share their days skiing in Scotland. It really really is great.

Errrrr,

Ill stick to the alps ta.

Mates first ever ski experience.

"Just had a week in Scotland it was fking fantastic"

following season on returning from Val Thorens.

"Get fked if you think im ever going to Scotland skiing again"

hehe

Id like to give it ago. But its more expensive then going somewhere decent.

Edit: Of course if you live within an hour of them, then fine!

I don't think I'm going to france this year, but I'm tempted by scotland.

Snow looks as good as anywhere in europe TBH.

I spoke yesterday to my mums neighbour, who works at Cairngorm, who reported that last week was incredible, the temp went up yesterday, but It was also snowing heavily. 50cm or so forecast over the next few days.

Anyone heading up there Weekend/next week?

P.S. cost isn't such a problem with Mum still next door to Aviemore! smile

Moving to Scotland next week, about an hour from Glencoe!

Ski holiday this year will be in 3 valleys, but I can't wait to get a few sneaky days off here and there whenever the snow's out.

Tried to go to the Lecht yesterday as I knew there was going to be fresh snow there and we had a beginner with us. We thought we would go for the afternoon. The weather thought otherwise. The road from Cock Bridge was closed 30mins before we got there! How annoying!

Just been looking on www.winterhighland.info now and all the resorts are stormbound now.

Cairngorm has just got 65cm of new snow and its still snowing, Glenshee has just got 2 foot and its still snowing.

Once this storm blows out its going to be amazing conditions up there! But I think that the soonest that it will be open will be Sunday. They are going to have a hell of a job clearing the roads!

The biggest problem apart from digging out the lifts will be avalanche. I was boarding in 5 inches of hoar frost on Sunday. There is now half a metre of fresh powder on top of it, and hoar is the snowpack equivalent of Teflon.
