Those early 90s (import) Legacy's - What MPG

Does anyone own an early 90's Legacy, if so what is it, and what kind of MPG can I expect with normal driving? I am not very familiar with these cars. I don't particularly want a twin turbo nutter car. Just something nice, discreet, unmodified, etc. I saw an E-Tune that I liked the look of, based purely on looks. So what real-world MPG can I except from these cars, and is there a big difference between each type?

I have a 2002 GTB E-tune (2.0TT 280bhp) and average around 25-27mpg, 30-33 is easy enough to achieve on a run if you don't get too happy with the right foot.

2nd-gen (93-97)cars are a little thirstier model for model but I can't compare directly as my '97 TSR was a 2.0NA (155bhp), I forget what it averaged but best I had was around 37-38mpg

IIRC my old 1st-gen '90 VZ (2.0NA 150bhp) Legacy was thirstier than my current twin-turbo so I hate to think what the old turbos were like on fuel


As far as other differences go, basically (as you'd expect) the older models are more raw. 2nd and 3rd gen car had the sequential twin-turbo setup while 1st and 4th gen are single turbo - nice twinscroll unit in the 4th gen cars though.

I should add those figures for the GTB are on the preferred 98 RON fuel - it can be up to 10-15% worse on 95.
