Rear Door Lock - E90

The driver’s side rear door lock on my 06 E90 hasn’t been operating properly for a few weeks, i.e. it remains locked all the time and will only open from opening the door from inside the car.

Having taken it to BMW they have said the door lock needs replacing, the part is £84, fully fitted including VAT is £240. A bit steep i thought.

Does anyone firstly know if this is a common fault? Secondly, does anyone recommend a decent independent in the Guildford area?

I would of thought this was a warranty item?

Its a 56 plate though so just out of BMW warranty. I have the full RAC warranty but im not holding my breath.

Had this on my front door, its probably a snapped bowden cable, easyish to replace, and cost £9 after they tried to sell me the complete unit.
