I've now got half a dozen users, and I want to set up roaming profiles on the server so that any pc can be used by anyone. Oh, and move the local MS Outlook folders onto the server as well so that they can access emial from any PC.

I know that the user profiles are in docs & settings\%usernam%, but which files/folders do I have to copy to the server to make this possible??

Cheers

OS is Win XP on clients, Win 2000 on the server, so it "should" be a simple thing to do ... just a computer numpty here

Mail System is MS Outlook

You also need to be running Active Directory on your network.
Other than that its as easy as sharing a folder for the profiles to live in and assigning the profiles via AD.

Shouldn't be necessary to use Active Directory from what I rememeber.

Lots of articles on setting up roaming on MS, google results etc. Try this one for starters, also details how to ensure the outlook folders are moved (which they aren't by default):

Just set the profile location on teh AD user properties. Next time they log on and then off it should upload the profile to the server, then synchronise it.

Don't create teh server folders before tehy logon, the permissions won't work properly. If you want to, copy the entire username folder from the harddrive to the profile.

1: Set up profiles share
2: Define profile locaitons in user properties
3: Log user on and then off
4: Check that profile has uploaded, if not copy entire profile from computer.
