Hi,

I'm the happy owner of a 1968 Lotus Seven. I would like to get in contact with the original owner to get more info of the car, if possible.
I have the original "Registration Book" but I have difficulties decrypting the handwritten address and translating it to a more current address.

The address is (as I read it)

Mr XXXX, XXX
Rosebank, College Lane, ?he??pierpoint, Sx

The stamp on tha address says EAST SUSSEX C.C
The car was registrated with the East Sussex County Council in Lewes

Can any of you locals give me a clue?

That is West Sussex but makes sense really:

College Lane, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks, West Sussex BN6, United Kingdom

Don't think there are many places with similar spelling to Hurstpierpoint around surely?

Edit: Didn't notice ?he??pierpoint, is that your interpretation or is that definitely the combination?

Changed from East to West Sussex in 1974 (according to Wikipedia) so in '68 it would have been East Sussex CC.

you sure are quick.
Your right I'm not 100% on ?he??pierpoint. However I am 100% sure on the pierpoint part, so it looks plausible.

Thanks

I'd say it's certain. I know there's a College Road in Hurstpierpoint. Hurst college is a well known "posh" school, like Ardingly and Rodean. Both in the middle of rolling countryside, with Rodean on the cliffs. Hurstpierpoint was certainly East Sussex prior to 1974 too.
