Just trying to sort the insurance for mu Gallardo and it seems the insurance companies are asking for this system to be fitted, is this the findings of other owners here or do you have policies without it ? My car already has it fitted but is £ 265.00 plus vat for the year subs, I know its protection for an expensive car but still seems alot to me.

I had to pay a similar amount for the tracker subscription on my Cayenne and it's worth nowhere near as much as your car. Insurance company insisted. I'm wondering if they're on commission.

Incidently my BMW was more expensive than the Cayenne and no tracker required. Must be a risk thing.

I have tracker Horizon, about £10 a month subscription. To be honest, if someone nicked my car, I dont think I would want it returned!

generally cars like this are stolen and then parked somewhere quiet and left for a week, thief comes back and if there car is still there they know it didn't have a tracker. I would rather get my car back (assuming minimal damage) than have the insurance company pay out a fraction of what its realistically worth! Tracker is worth it IMHO.

I did ask mine previously if I could use another type of tracker and they said no.

To be fair though, your insurers might!

Virtually unheard of for an insurer not to want this level of tracker on a car of this type. Don't leave the cards in the car either like most people do - this will void your insurance!

Reading up on the ADR it seems a decent bit of kit, its just that you get a price for the insurance and then realise its costing you another 25% for the traker, oh well I guess small costs in the grand scheme of things.

I too have navtrac fitted. But have found using web for insurance over last three years that there is no point in navtrac. Insurance costs me extra £80 approx per annum without tracker on, but as poster advises c. £280 for tracker. Incidentally if stolen, I cannot see why it could not still be seen by navtrac by switching back on? Try the net!

When I had my 911 my insurance wanted a tracker fitted, but they didn't specify any specific brand of tracker though. I fitted a Cobra tracker about £700 I think an never had any problems with it.

My 430 though is fitted with NavTrack and it's fine although bloody annoying to have always remember to take those stupid key fob things.

To conclude a few things, is a tracker worth the money even if the insurance don't require it?

Which is the best tracker to go for (value for money vs benefits)?

Which brands to people recommend?

I had a "Tracker" on my AM, and I think it was around £130 a year.

Got the "Navtrak" on my Gallardo but I have not subscribed as they wanted more than twice the "Tracker" costs and to have it removed from my insurance was only £80 odd quid a year.
