Nice lens, just what I'm looking for but ad says dust in the lens - then goes on to say this isn't a problem.

Is it a problem ? Roughly, what's the cost of a lens service to remove the dust ?

The dust particles themselves won't show on the image but I suppose beyond a certain amount you'll lose contrast and get more flare.

You can almost destroy the front element and still get pics, as said above ultimatly you'll loose contrast and get flare. A few dust spots arnt worth worrying abou tho.

Hopefully he's just playing safe with his description and a small amount of dust will be of little consequence.

I'm assuming that he can tell the difference between dust, and mould or fungus, which would not be good.

Having said that, I sold all my 70's and 80's Nikkor lenses on eBay, clearly stating and illustrating copius amounts
of mould and/or fungus and other detritus inside, and they all found willing buyers at unexpectedly high prices!

'tis a corker of a lens. Mine lives on my camera. As others have said, small amount of dust shouldn't be a problem. Buy it and enjoy it smile

I've bought (and sold) a fair amount of kit from MPB. Their descriptions tend to be very cautious in my experience.

My Sigma 500 f4.5 was described as "showing slight signs of use". It looked brand new to me, apart from not coming in the original box.

My 85f1.8 was also described as having dust in it. I've had new lenses with more dust in them!

They also offer a 6 month guarantee on all their used gear. A quality dealer IMHO. smile
