Found a new button !

Under the steering column on the right. Pressed it, but nothing happened apart from a click under the dashboard. So I left it pressed in and drove down the road.

5 mins later .......... ..... something happened.

Luverly warm feeling around my naughty bits !!!

So either I accidently pi$$ed my self or i've got heated seats ...

Mind you, I forgot to put my incontenant pants on yesterday, so maybe I haven't got heated seats

Hmmm, found the button & pressed it. 'Click' from behind the dash but no warm cheeks!
What else could it be? Nothing seemed to be happening.
It's mounted just behind the ignition key on the shroud itself.

Yep, the button on the left does the dash lights, the right opens the boot it,s the one on the steering column shroud that has me stumped.

It is for the heated seats, mine don't work either!!!

I've a button there, but its the cooling fan over-ride, which then illuminates a yellow led also on the steering shroud - a useful "confidence" button when the engine temp starts getting too close to 90+ and the fan hasn't cut in. Also useful for cooling the engine bay after a run & before putting in garage - where it would melt the house otherwise ......;-))

It is for the heated seats, mine also has them (only passenger one works though!). They are useful for convincing the other half that removing the roof in winter is a good idea.
They are listed on the original invoice but there is no mention in the handbook of such things existing.

I've got a switch there but it has never done anything.
This switch is a red two way switch. Is this what you have?

My 99 Chim has a button on the right hand side of the steering column. It is to switch the A/C on/off.
Seems the original owner wanted to have the possibility of warm dry air in the winter (to defug).
So the on/off switch is not built into the temperature dial - it is on the steering column.

Not red just the normal black push button. There is a click from behind the dash when you push it so it must be doing something but no heat from the seat.
If I look under seat will I be able to see the wires or are they hidden?

Decided to stop work & get off my arse to have a look.
Wires running to both seats but the passenger side has been disconected at the plug so I'll get the tester out at the weekend & see what happens.

I have disconnected my heated seats.......after filling the interior with smoke! The smoke was actually coming from the seat plug itself so no big deal. Just switched of the system and disconnected the plug.Change of underwear required at the time though.

Just be careful that the seat has not been disconnected for a similar reason.

Hi Mike,

Shouldn't be too difficult, just pricey. I looked into replacing my heating elements when one broke and IIRC it was about £100 in parts per seat. The wiring wouldn't be rocket science but I would leave dismantling the seats to someone who knows what they are doing.

Sounds like this button has a multitide of uses - for us, its the boot release.

hey fellas

I've also got a misc button - not mentioned anywhere on the manual, it's on the left of the steering column - just below the stalk and towards the wheel (ahead of the lever to adjust the steering wheel) it's not a press button, it turns towards or away from the driver - cant for the life of me tell what it does! any ideas!!!
