Just need to check whether I'm developing OCD or whether I'm comparatively normal (in this respect at least). Anyway, every night I say goodnight to my cat, and I always say cheerio to him when I'm leaving the house. There are cetain things my OH and I do in the bedroom (and elsewhere) in more or less exactly the same way. I say thank you (not out loud) to my car at the end of the day when it once again performs faultlessly.

I expect I would feel a bit uncomfortable if I didn't do these things, but I'm guessing because I never fail to do them

There's a few other things too, but that's enough to get the idea, I think.

Tell it's not just me, please?

Do you punish him for being naughty by inserting your gentleman vegetables into his mouth?

That must be dull after a while. Beware - she may seek greener, more interesting, pastures.....

Early signs of the mental there SC.

The fact you feel uncomfortable not doing them is the worry.

If you didn't do them, what is the worst which could happen, and how likley is that really?

So, you don't talk to the cat, and the house burns down and the cat is frazzled. How likely is that? Even if it did happen, would saying goodnight help massively?

The car is (gulp) an inanimate object and its re;iability depends more on your serviving and maintaining than talking to it. How likley is it that talking to it makes a difference to its reliability?

On the otherside what harm is it doing? I guess it doesn't stop you going out, make you late for work or make you anxious when out?

I have a morning sequence of turning on the coffee machine, turn off the alarm, boot up PC, get newspaper, breakfast, walk dogs.

I only have routines because it prevents me forgetting stuff and some bits are required before others ( alarm before going into the office etc).

I have also noticed that the last thing I do before gettng into bed is to twang the elastic in my boxer shorts but not sure why.

Can't leave without shaving. In fact, the last time I forgot I turned round on my way to work, went home and shaved then made a traffic excuse. Oh and I have to check facebook and football365.com to see what (hasn't) been happening since I fell asleep

I have to have my toast put in 20-30 minutes before I eat it as it has to be cold toast.

I also have to wake up and check the Sky News App on my iPhone first thing in the morning just incase anything happened in the night (Not sure why).

Also, if i'm using something like hand soap I count the rotations, and for some reason I can't stop the washing motion if i'm not on a number I like.

Morning: Wake up, drink tea, have a wee, feed rabbits.

Night time: Turn off lights, wish rabbits a good night, check front door. Bed.

Without fail.

Whilst not being complacent, I do feel I have good reason to believe I'm on safe ground there.

You would be surprised just how much priorities change as you get older. Especially in matters of the flesh.

I wake up, take dog out, come back and have a cup of coffee and a cig while watching the news.

I always say goodnight to the dog and like you say cheerio to him when I leave the house.

I always check the garage everynight before I go to bed. Not just once but 3 times.

Literally everything is a ritual for me, hence why my highish score in that autism thread wasn't surprising, I swear I have a touch of Aspergers in me

I meant both of us.

In any case, how did this get from a discussion of rituals to the size of my schlong? Still, PH is known for this kind of thing smile

I would have thought a supersized penis wouldn't be much fun for the recipient anyway, unless they had something wrong with them.

We are all just creatures of habit IMHO so that's half of it.

Some of my pets are also creatures of habit i.e. I know the likely sleeping spots of two of my dogs during the day and where they will be at night. When the dogs go out first thing they go toilet... Then they come in and wait outside the kitchen to await breakfast. All routine/habit.
