XBOX LIVE - HELP pleeeeease!!

Right... last night was a complete nightmare.
Was playing away merrily with a mate on BFBC2. for some reason he kept dropping out of the party. told him to do the internet connection test to find out his NAT settings. Then out of interest i did an internet connection test. All seemed fine and was chatting away in a party but for some reason my Xbox wouldnt connect to any games. Decided to start again. Shut down xbox and restarted router.
Turn everything back on and it doesnt log me into xbox live. Do the internet connection test and it says my MTU setting is too low. Go into the router and manually adjust MTU to higher than it already was (was already higher than MTU minimum)
Then it says it can connect to the net but not xbox live.
The router is a Belkin N+ and the xbox is connected via a cable to the router. I have already opened the required ports in the router, given it the MAC address of the xbox and added it onto the exception list to put it outside the firewall.
So after 2 hours all of this has made no difference. It's still saying it hasnt got sufficient MTU.
However... 1 PC, 2 laptops and a PS3 are still all working perfectly though.
Basically ive decided to go and buy a router as i realise the Belkin one isnt on the xbox list of approved ones.

depending on the router, you only need to forward the ports OR put in in DMZ (out side firewall). However if it was working fine, just swich of you router for abit and it mamy clear itself, or set it up again along with thwe xbox. I had this with a netgear router one night, and i went tobed - sorted in the morning without me doing anythign...

The fix?? Well... i finally on the last ditch attempt turned off the Upnp. restarted xbox and router and kerplinky plonk. Logged me into xbox live all by itself! ffs......

Slightly OT but is the bad company 2 demo still running? My brother noticed it has been taken off so you cant download any more but wasn't sure if you could still play it if you already had it.After spending 3 hours trouble shooting and turning things on and off.
