stainless steel screws

'A4' Grade (used in marine applications due to its high resistance to corrosion) screws available from here http://www.inox.ie/acatalog/SelfTapping_Pozi_Pan.h...
I have had some interesting conversations regarding this with inox.ie who specialise in fixings for marine uses.
If using stainless steel self tapers, he advised they they would be too soft, and it would be difficult to get a good bite on the thread and for it to hold over time. Ideally you would use a steel screw first to create a thread before putting in the self tapers.
However to get better strength it would be advisable to use rivets. Perhaps use Monel steel rivets?
Looking at it I think I might go for Stainless Steel rivets, I am concerned about the strength of self tapers.

An interesting update and I don't doubt inox's experience on the matter but I would have thought if the floor pan was Sikaflex'd as well as screwed with a lock washer and a dab of loctite on the threads, surely that would be more than adequate?
