So you are gonna miss out on playing for your country in the World Cup, the highest pinnacle of your sporting career; a World Cup where you have a realistic chance of winning; where you may be looking back in 30 years on the "boys of 2010" and you aren't one of them, all because of some 'lut that you aren't even seeing anymore?!?!?!

He needs to grow a pair. Stand up in front of the whole squad on the first day, point to JT and say "This man is the most dispicable Cutting off nose to spite face me thinks...
on the face of the planet and I wouldn't pi55 on him if he was on fire. However, I will put aside my feelings towards him in the interest of helping us achieve the best performance in the forthcoming World Cup. I reserve my right to utterly despise him during times when we are not together and for ever more after the World Cup".TEKNOPUG said:

I don't blame him it's very easy to say you'd just put it to oneside, but for the world cup those players will being living in each other pockets for 6 to 8 weeks. If you can do with that with someone you loathe with good reason then fair enough, he's given it proper consideration and decided he can't which is his right.
And as for a realistic chance of winning, don't make me laugh. We've got no decent goalkeeper, rightback, left midfielder, right midfielder if Lennon doesn't get fit, and only one good striker. Spain would wipe the floor with us without breaking sweat!

So are you saying that he doesn't want to play in the World Cup because he doesn't think that we'll win it? We're good enough to get to the semi's and anything can happen in a couple of one-off games. And as for a realistic chance of winning, don't make me laugh. Besides, I think that he will regret his decision for a lot longer than any emotional pain or damaged pride that he currently feels. It seems like quite childish and unprofessional behaviour. If he was 21 and at the beginning of his career, maybe you could understand it. But he's 29! This is his last chance to play (Represent his country) in the worlds biggest sporting event and he's going to miss out over some bit of skirt that he'll get over in a few months anyway.
I think the bloke is being very selfless and acting with dignity, his inclusion could affect the squad in many ways and hype up unneeded negative media attention on the team. Takes a bigger set of balls at times to conduct yourself in a proper manner when unwanted attention centres on you.

A bit of skirt who happens to be the mother of his kid...every time he picks the kid up for a day out he'll remember what happened.Good on him i say. He's made Terry look an even bigger prick than he already did. If this had happened in any other work environment JT would probably be sucking his meals through a straw by now.

I would have thought that the decision is Mr Capello's to make; one that he gets paid many millions to carefully consider and ultimately be responsible for.MonkeyHanger said:

There were many before him who did the same, there will be many many more after him.
It is a fact of life, get over it.
Lots of people marry, then get divorced, then get new partners. If there are kids involved you will meet the new partners. I just don't get the big deal, thousands and thousands of people do this.
There is only one issue with this whole debacle and that is John Terrys wife.

I'm sure he's given this plenty of thought, an awful lot more than you or I have certainly. Players retire from international football early all the time, Paul Scholes at under 30 and he obviously hasn't regretted it, or he'd have made himself available again.

Why has the law in the UK changed to make them legal?TEKNOPUG said:

Scholes retired from international football so that he could continue playing! Completely different.I'm sure he's given this plenty of thought, an awful lot more than you or I have certainly.
