Not sure if these have been discussed on here before but I thought I should bring them up.

Had the oppourtunity to have a look at these at work today (I now work for JCB) and the words that I blurted out when I saw them were 'Holy st!'

What an awseome machine, massive, imposing mobile and bloody fast (58mph)

Here is the story about one that was hit by an anti-tank mine and saved the soliders life (and limbs).

Proof positive that Britain still churns out awesome military vehicles.

Have any of PH's resident military men had a chance to drive one?

Impressive that JCB won the contract for the US Army over CAT or similar manufacturers - must be a pretty good bit of kit if they buy our stuff over theirs. Have the British orders entered service yet?

Very O/T but T89Callan, did you ever finish the BMW engine block table project that you posted here?

They are all made in the USA apparently (Savana plant)

Apparently when the companies who put tender presented there prototypes CAT hadn't even bothered to build an armoured vehicle and just turned up with a standard backhoe, supposedly it was a cut and dry case of JCB getting the contract as there's was the only vehicle to actually fulfil the criteria.

As for the coffe table, I finished the block and have been using it as a footrest for minths but have struggled to find a suitable top. I do have one now though (black glass with aluminium inserts) so it might finish it fairly soon.

You want to buy it?

They are the last great UK manufacturing company around and are still at the forefront of innovation and new products.
