I have become yet another victim of the infamous red ring of death

So irritating, especially as I've only just acquired bioshock 2 (it is awesome if anyone was wondering )

Do I have any hope of getting it fixed or anything? Or am I up a certain creek without means of propulsion.

Standard warranty is 2 years but they extended this to 3 for RROD.
Give microsoft a ring and they will organise a courier free of charge.

Took 2 weeks for them to do mine and they also gave me a free month of Live Gold.

I know the feeling!!!!! Returned it to costco and got a new one free of charge.

Unfortunately the RROD is just one of the inevitable of 360 ownership, I have had it a couple of times.

Fortunately, Microsoft will sort out you machine FOC if covered by 3 year warranty from RROD, so log on the xbox site follow the links, then in about 10 days you will be ready to roll again.

It would be better if they could sort out the heat and lead free solder issues that plague the system, the newer jasper chip set/ 150 W unit i have has so far been problem free.

I had my 18 month old console RROD. M$ refused to fix it saying it had been tampered with as there were screws missing from inside. I had owned it from brand new, and it was certainly not tampered with. They are an awful company to deal with, they simply refused to acknowledge my complaint or take another look at it.
I vowed never again, then Forza 3 came out so I picked up a 250GB special edition, with the newest chipset. That RROD'd the second time I powered it up.

Exchanged that at the shop, feeling like an utter mug. It's been Ok so far but I now buy all my games on PS3 and the Xbox is for Forza only really.

Crappy hardware, and my experience of M$ was hugely negative.

tbh i think the months free gold is a bit of a joke.

I pay yearly for my live - and when it comes to re-subscribing they just auto renew it...

so ive already paid for it... what good is a free coupon??

Go on the xbox forums, there is a pdf document on fixing it yourself, i believe it involves a penny....

If you jaff in the code it will delay your resubscription date by 1 month, giving you one month extra. I bought a 12 month card and thats what happened anyway. The 1 month ones are the same.
