My colleague and I are using an Excel spreadsheet with lots of different macros, designed to print out some reports including a lot of tables. We're both running the same version of Office and use the same printer, but different laptops. His machine prints out the documents perfectly well, whereas mine seems to chop up single pages across different sheets.

Our IT department are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard and we're at the end of our tether trying to get it sorted.

Any ideas on here folks ?

Thanks.

Might sound obvious, but are the printer options set properly? As in, is it set to print on the correct size paper/orientation/etc.?

Have you tried the File -> Print Area -> Set Print Area option too?

Seems like all the settings are the same - we've had both machines next to each other to check.

check in printers and faxes (in control panel) and check the preferences for the printer there)
As an example , in word there are three places you can mess with and mess up printing behaviour, two are in word and one is via the preferences in "printers and faxes"

Yep,already checked that. Everything is the same. Our IT chappy had a look too but still none the wiser.

Are they both using the same Scaling / Fit To settings? Go to Print Preview, then Page Setup - I suspect on is set to "fit to one page high by one page wide" and the other isn't.

check page print preview ... note the little dotted line and move them.

Also double check your printer prefs

Can't remember checking that but I am sure we must have done. Will check again.

Checked that and aligned them. It didn't help though. The biggest problem is fitting the doc on the page widthways; adjusting column width helped but caused problems with reading what was in the cells.

It's frustrating as it prints perfectly on one machine but not mine.

Might it be font related?

Seen something similar before where a document was created on one machine using a font which was installed on that machine, but when viewed on another machine (which didnt have that font installed), Windows chooses a similar font, but sometimes it can kick the alignment out and not print correctly.

Worth a look, thanks. They should have been installed the same, but you never know with our lot.

Also check paper size settings both within excel and in printer settings.

For example, if one of the computers originated from the US, it's default would be "Letter" size paper rather than A4, which is a bit fatter but not as tall as a standard piece of A4.
