I'm going to cook Fillet steak, with that i have no problems.
With it i intend to do roasted cubed potatoes and red/white onions, drizzled with olive oil and herbs.

But i also want to do carrots and green beans.
I was thinking the small carrots and leave them whole, not cutting off the top or bottoms.
What i'm asking is, is there something different i could do rather than just steam them to make them a bit "special" or would roasting them be an option.

Any ideas ?

Steam the green beans then wrap a bunch of 5-6 in a slice of bacon or parma ham then grill lightly. Looks and tastes lovely.

Try cooking the carrots in water with a little honey and butter.

Green beans as above.

Carrots: cut into batons then boil in Orange Juice for six to seven minutes or tender. This is a great trick with carrots: makes them "special". Piece of piss to do...

If you want to be a miser with the Orange juice you can do a half juice/half water mix...which works almost as well.

Oddly enough you can microwave the carrot in orange juice and it works - done in three minutes or so...

I'm liking the green beans idea, that sounds great.

As for the carrots, i might try those ideas out before i subject my guests to them incase i cock it up

When you say cook in water with some honey and butter, you mean boiling them or in a frying pan ?
The orange juice method intrigues me.

cheers guys

I would boil them, then get rid of the water and "stir fry" them for a couple of minutes with the honey and butter. Just enough to give them a nice glaze.

Carrots - Cinnamon in with the water and boil them in large chunks.

(Discoverred this making stock for one of Nigella's chicken soups)

Just be very careful about using too much honey as it is very easy to overpower the carrot flavor.

When you say stir fry take it you mean drain the water out of the pan and replace the carrots back in to the pan and add the honey and butter. Then you stir/toss the carrots in the pan over a highish heat or do mean to actually use a wok to do this?

Roast teh carrots with some corriander.

I've no idea about the beans, they are green and therefore poisonous to me.
