Boot opener

This is probably a daft question, but has anyone come up with a way of opening the boot lid an inch or so when the badge is pushed? Reason I ask is that I have to push the badge and get my (fat) fingers into the (narrow) gap between body and boot lid to lift it. Is this normal?

Mines the same.

Only things I can suggest is either to lay off the pies

or maybe fit a gas strut on the other side.

New boot seals may help push it up alittle. Will only cost you a tenner too.

Try feeding some stiff neoprene hollow tubing inside the boot seals, may give it a bit more "ping".

Out of interest where do you get this sort of thing from? I need to do a similar thing to my door seals in order to have them pop open rather than stay within the catch.

Mine has a small spring loaded piston to help raise the boot an inch when the boot latch is released (very simple). I will now try to work out how to upload pictures!! Please wait patiently.

Try a fish or pet shop airline i reckon would do it.

Either that or Lawn mower petrol pipe stuff..a good hardware store should have something...(not BQ or Homebase)
Model shops used to sell it when I was a lad for model aircraft.

Thanks to glow worm. Had the same problem with the boot. Tried the idea with the plastic tube just in the garage and...it works. Boot pops up now - just only one cm, but thats enough to open it easyly.

That is the kind of thing I was thinking of, but it doesn't seem to be standard- wonder where it comes from?

I think they were fitted by Racing Green TVR to Tuscans they supplied. Might be worth giving them a ring to see if they still stock them.

thank you for the picture. I think this solution is unusual for an Tuscan, I never saw anything like it. Where did you get the spring and how does it work? The picture doesn´t tell it.
